Care Guide

Riding Jackets

All our jackets are made from 100% Wool fabrics, therefore care must be taken to ensure they stay in good condition.

Remember that when woollen fabrics get wet they tend to increase in weight; this may distort the jackets shape. To dry your jacket lay the garment on a flat surface such as a towel.

To further keep your jacket in tip top condition you need to employ proper storage techniques. Use a thick padded hanger to retain the shape and choose a cool dry storage location.

We advise that Pretty Ponies Jackets should be dry cleaned only.

Jods

Pretty Ponies Jodhpurs are made from 100% Nylon, we advise that they should be washed on a 30 degree wash and not be tumble dried.

Browbands

It is very difficult to keep your browbands clean due to the makeup that is used on horses these days. To try and prevent the browbands becoming dirty you can use a browband cover which are easily attached by Velcro and can be worn on the bridle up to the horse/pony entering the ring.

If your browband does get marked then we advise you to clean any dirty marks after each show with a cloth or toothbrush with a very small amount of fairy liquid. Never immerse your browband in water.

Lead Rein Hats

Tweed & Velvet - If your hat gets wet, dry it on a flat surface away from direct heat and stuff it with newspaper to retail its shape.

Siminay Structured hats - Our Siminay hats should be treated carefully, stored in a hatbox away from direct sunlight and extreme cold. These hats should not be worn in the rain.

Leather Gloves

After wearing your gloves they should be stored in a place where they won’t get damp. If they do get wet, dry away from direct heat and lay flat.

Measuring Guide

Pretty Ponies has listed below a definition of the most commonly used product measurement terms. To help you choose the best size, we recommend that you compare each product’s measurements with your own.

Shoulder
From shoulder tip to shoulder tip.
Sleeve
From the underarm to the cuff.
Hip
Measure around the point of your hips at the top of your legs. This will be approximately nine inches below your natural waistline.
Inside Leg
The distance from the top of your inside leg (at the crotch) to your ankle.
Chest
Measure around the fullest part of your chest.
Waist
The slimmest part of your natural waistline – above your navel and below your ribcage.
Rise
This is the distance from the top of the waistband to the crotch.
Length
Lengths are taken from the highest part of the back of the garment, from the shoulder or neckline, to the hem.
Hats
A tape measure is placed on the forehead and passed around the head, ensuring that the widest part of the head is included.
Browbands
We recommend you measure an existing browband if possible to ensure that you order the correct length. The browbands are available in 3 widths – 1/2", 3/4” and 1" wide and are made of Leather.
To take an accurate measurement of a browband, it is recommended that you remove it from the bridle and lay it flat.  Measure it from the back from end to end. If you require a length not listed please indicate on your order form.
